Edwardian/Georgian Conservatories

  • Edwardian conservatories have an elegant design while also being light and spacious, so it’s easy to see why they are one of the bestsellers at Kayvex. Sometimes known as Georgian conservatories, this style is square, which means it works with all sorts of garden shapes and sizes, with practical space inside.

If you love the minimalist style, then an Edwardian conservatory is for you. It manages to be sleek and simple, yet decorative and offers great value for money when you want more space in your home.

The Edwardian or Georgian conservatory is similar to a Victorian conservatory, but a different shape; square instead of curved. These conservatories have vaulted roofs, which mean you enjoy high ceilings and a light, open space where you can relax or entertain.

While our Edwardian conservatories have a traditional, heritage look, at Kayvex, we manufacture them with modern features. This ensures you get a beautiful conservatory that’s also energy efficient and is easy to keep warm in the winter and cool during the summer, so you can enjoy your new space year-round.

The glass-fronted style of Edwardian conservatories means they are also an excellent way to add natural light to your home. They let in lots of sunlight while filtering dangerous UV rays, so you can make the most of sunny days. You also get the feeling of being outdoors while you sit in your conservatory, so even in the coldest weather, you don’t feel like you’re cooped up inside the house

  • This conservatory style features a flat front and a square or rectangular symmetrical shape. The Georgian conservatory typically has a high, sloping roof style that gives a spectacular vaulted effect. Your conservatory floods with light, making it a bright, airy and uplifting room.

What is an Edwardian conservatory?

Edwardian conservatories, sometimes known as Georgian conservatories, balance modern and traditional looks. They’re an updated version of the classic Victorian conservatory, and generally have a square or rectangular shape and a roof with a high pitch. They usually have a glass roof to let in the sunlight, and can either be built with a dwarf wall, or floor-to-ceiling glass panels. These conservatories give you the largest possible square footage, which means they’re ideal for creating a dining room, second living room or even space for the kids to play. You can find out more about Edwardian conservatories by contacting Kayvex.

What is the difference between a Victorian and an Edwardian conservatory?

While Victorian and Edwardian conservatories are quite similar, the latter is a slightly more modern version. The main similarities are the roof, which has a high pitch, and the ornate detailing, which suits both modern and period homes. The main difference between the two is the shape. Victorian conservatories tend to be built with three or five sides in a bay-fronted shape, which gives it a slightly rounded effect. By comparison, an Edwardian conservatory will be either square or rectangular. This gives you different options to suit the shape of your garden and get the look you want.

Can Edwardian conservatories be fitted with decorative glass?

Kayvex offer a wide range of decorative glass, which includes leaded, textured and coloured glass. Any of these styles could be incorporated into your conservatory’s design. You could choose a simple grid for some of your glass panels or go for something very decorative and ornate to complement your home’s style. Textured glass is a popular option for homes where the gardens are overlooked. It means you can relax in your conservatory without worrying about the neighbours looking in. Contact Kayvex to find out more about the options for decorative glass.

Is an Edwardian conservatory a practical choice?

The square or rectangular shape of Edwardian conservatories means they’re one of the most practical styles. It’s easier to find furniture to fit and to make the most of the space when you have a simple layout. The pitched roof also makes the design more practical, as not only does it make the space feel bigger, debris such as leaves slide off the top, so you aren’t constantly having to clean it. Kayvex design and manufacture lots of practical conservatories, so why not contact us to find out more about our range?
