Gable Conservatories

  • If you want to add some extra space to your home, our gable conservatories are an elegant and simple way to do so.

Gable end conservatories have a sloping roof with a high vault. This helps open up the conservatory space and let in lots of natural light, giving you a feeling of space inside. Because they have a classic design, they’re ideal for all sorts of homes.

One of the things that makes a gable end conservatory distinctive is the glass roof section at the front. This can be decorated with coloured glass or a beautiful bespoke design or left plain so you can simply enjoy the view. Because a gable conservatory is a flexible design and doesn’t have to be a particular shape or style, Kayvex can work with you to create the conservatory you’ve always wanted.

If you want extra privacy or shade, gable end conservatories can be fitted with blinds. This makes the space feel cosy in the winter and cool and shaded in the summer, so you’ll truly enjoy the space all year-round.
One of the reasons why gable end conservatories are so popular is that the design can be tailored in so many ways. While the gable has a classic Georgian, almost gothic look, you can work with Kayvex to create a conservatory that works with your property. There are more contemporary versions of this design that suit new builds, or you can add more ornate, decorative features to suit a period home.

  • With a gable-end conservatory, the front of the roof doesn’t slope back to the centre. Instead, the front of the conservatory stays upright, like the end of a house – this is often called a sunburst effect. This is where the gable-end conservatory style gets its name from. A gable-end conservatory is square or rectangular in shape, providing you maximum space and light.

What is a Gable end conservatory?

Either known as a gable or gable end conservatory, this is a classic style that has a heritage feel to it. The main feature that defines a gable conservatory is its roof. Most conservatories have a roof that slopes back at the end, while at the front of a gable, the end of the roof stays upright forming a triangle shape. You then have a vaulted roof with two sides which make the interior feel light and spacious. The triangle at the front of the gable is often decorated with a design such as a sunburst, but this can also be finished off with coloured glass or simply left plain.

Why should I choose a Gable conservatory?

Gable conservatories are often chosen by our customers because they are a practical option. They have a square or rectangular shape, so you enjoy maximum square footage, and it’s much easier to find furniture for these rooms. Because gable conservatories are from the Georgian period, they tend to suit most historic British homes, and they can add some elegance to either modern or period properties. The flat-front of a gable conservatory gives them a light, spacious feel, with amazing views over your garden. Not sure whether a gable conservatory is right for you? Drop into our showroom and we can show you some examples.

Are Gable conservatories an energy-efficient choice?

Gable conservatories can certainly be built for energy efficiency, but you need to make sure you are buying a quality product. We manufacture our gable conservatories in the UK, with high-quality double glazing for thermal efficiency. This means our gable conservatories are easy to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer, so you can enjoy them year-round. We can also offer a range of upgrades for increased energy efficiency. A tiled, or part-tiled roof is easier to insulate, and building your conservatory with a dwarf wall can also help prevent heat loss.

Are Gable conservatories secure?

At Kayvex, we work hard to make our gable conservatories as secure as possible. We are part of the Secured By Design initiative, which is run by the UK police with the aim of preventing burglaries. When we build a conservatory, we use toughened glass for the windows and doors, making it extremely difficult to break. Also, all doors have multi-point locking mechanisms. We also recommend taking precautions such as not leaving expensive items on display when you leave the house.
