Lean-to Conservatories

  • With a sleek, elegant design, lean-to conservatories are a popular style which can be installed in homes with a height restriction.

Lean-to conservatories allow people who live in a space that won’t support a larger conservatory to add more space to their homes. This is because lean-to conservatories can have a shallow or steep pitched roof. If you want one installed on a bungalow, you can have a shallow pitch, which steeply pitched roofs work well on small houses.

All of our conservatories add space to your home and let in more natural light. They’re ideal for relaxing, entertaining guests, or as a calming space where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine. Lean-to conservatories are one of our more minimalistic styles, meaning that it creates a space that’s completely versatile.

Lean-to conservatories can also be used to convert an existing space into a room. The conservatory can be installed where there are adjoining walls, and this option is usually less expensive and easier than a traditional extension.

You’ll no doubt get plenty of use out of your conservatory. If you’re a keen gardener, they are a good place to grow plants, with plenty of sunlight coming in, or you can bring plants inside to save them during a frost.

  • The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.

Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that’s too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Do you need foundations to install a lean-to conservatory?

Lean-to conservatories will attach to one of your structural walls, but foundations will still need to be dug to ensure your conservatory is as stable as possible for years to come. Before we begin the installation, Kayvex will need to send a surveyor to your home to take a look at the site. They will test your soil, which will help us work out the depth of foundation you’ll need, and they can also advise which groundwork and footings will be needed. This will help us ensure your conservatory is completely safe and stable and lasts for as long as possible.

What is a lean-to conservatory?

Lean-to conservatories are one of the most simple, minimalistic conservatory designs. Made of three walls, mostly glass, these conservatories attach to the side of your home and they tend to be smaller than other models of conservatory. Lean-to conservatories can be built with a glass or tiled roof, depending on whether you’d prefer more natural light or extra insulation. A lean-to is sometimes known as a sunroom, as they provide a small space where you can enjoy the outdoors year-round. Lean-tos work well in spaces that are too small for a standard conservatory.

Is a lean-to the same as a conservatory?

Lean-tos and conservatories have a number of similarities. They are made up mostly of glass panels, so capture natural light and are warmed by the sun. Conservatories are generally larger than the average lean-to and tend to have pitched roofs and decorative details. By comparison, a lean-to is of a simpler design, with a flat or sloping roof, and it doesn’t protrude far from your property. This design is often used in smaller homes or places with limited garden space. Not sure which conservatory is right for you? Kayvex will be happy to explain the differences and help you find the right one.

Why should I choose a lean-to conservatory?

If you have limited outdoor space, a lean-to conservatory might be the best option for you. This is because lean-tos are attached to your home and don’t take up much space, so you get the benefits of a conservatory without needing a huge garden. Some homeowners also choose this style because they have a low height clearance. This might be because your home has eaves which present an obstacle, or you live in a bungalow, which means you don’t want a structure that’s too tall. A lean-to can be designed with your home in mind. Many people also like the look of a lean-to as they are simple and have clean lines, so work well with modern homes.
