At Kayvex, we make high-quality patio doors that our customers love. It’s easy to see why; not only do our patio doors look good, but they also don’t rattle or move in the window, so they keep your home energy efficient and cosy.
At Kayvex, we weather test all our products, ensuring they can stand up to the ever-changing British weather, and our patio doors are designed to cope with wind, rain, snow, and heatwaves.
When you want to open up your home and enjoy your outdoor space, patio doors are the perfect way to do so. The big glass panels allow you to enjoy garden views, while the UPVC or aluminium frames are sleek and attractive, making a beautiful addition to your property. You can choose two, three, our four-pane patio doors to fit your space, and these doors are easy to operate, smoothly sliding out of the way.
Patio doors are ideal for properties that lack natural light. These doors bring in lots of light and can be opened a little when you need a breeze or pulled all the way open for fresh air in the summer. They make it easier to access your outdoor space, and on cold days, you can still enjoy the view while being warm and cosy inside. Patio doors can even make a small room feel much bigger.

How are sliding patio doors operated?
A good patio door should be easy to open and close, but also be secure when it’s shut. Most patio doors have a handle with a lever, which you flick to release the lock, and you can then open the patio doors as much as you like. Because these doors have both top and bottom rollers, no matter what size they are, the process should be smooth and easy. Kayvex’s team of installers will check your doors are operating properly before they leave the site and will show you how to use your doors.
How wide is a two-panel sliding patio door?
Two-panel sliding patio doors can be great for smaller properties, as the glass design lets in lots of natural light. However, when you install a two-panel door, it’s worth remembering that only one half of the door can be opened at any one time. Usually, one panel is fixed, and one panel slides neatly behind it. A standard two-panel patio door is about 1.8m (6ft) in total, which means you’d have a space of 90cm (3ft) to access your outdoor space. If you need a different size, We can make something to the correct dimensions, simply get in touch to discuss your needs and we can put together a quote.
What’s a lift and slide patio door?
While most patio doors stay on a sliding track all the time, a lift and slide patio door can be lifted and taken off the track to secure it in place. When you close a lift and slide patio door, it comes off the track and locks into place. If you want to open it, you lift the handle and slide it across. The door can also be lifted off the track and secured at any point on the track. This means if you just want your doors open a tiny crack, so kids and pets can’t escape, you can secure the door in a single open position.
Are patio doors energy efficient?
Like any window or door product, the energy efficiency of a patio door depends on the quality of its manufacture and installation. You should look for a patio door that not only has a high-quality frame in a material like PVCu, aluminium or timber, but also has double or triple glazing. Ideally, you want A-rated glass or higher, with a U-value that’s as low as possible, as this means the glazing will prevent heat loss and remain energy efficient. Don’t forget to choose one with a good lock! We manufacture high-quality patio doors in our state of the art factory, and we would be happy to give you a quote.
Can intruders break into sliding patio glass doors?
While you may be worried about having large glass doors for security reasons, it’s very difficult to break into our patio doors. We fit toughened glass on all our doors for extra security, and you can choose both double and triple glazed options. Our patio doors also have multi-point locking systems that are almost impossible to break into. We work with the UK police under the Secured By Design initiative, which aims to reduce burglaries in homes, so all our doors are designed to make life difficult for would-be intruders. If you want to find out more about securing your patio doors, contact Kayvex today.
How much do patio doors cost?
The cost of patio doors varies depending on a number of factors. When you get a quote, this will be based on the size of the patio doors, the glass you choose, and what material the patio doors are made from. Larger doors will obviously be more expensive, while aluminium tends to cost more than uPVC. You may also want to upgrade from the standard double glazing to triple glazing, which can be a worthwhile investment as it increases energy efficiency. Whatever options you choose, we will manufacture your doors to the highest standards, so contact us today for a free quote.
